YOUTH unemployment in Dumfries and Galloway hit a record low last month.

In November there were 305 people aged 18-24 looking for work in this region. That was down from 335 the previous month and 365 at the same time last year – and a massive drop from November 2012 when the figure was 925. Meanwhile, the overall unemployment total for all ages locally last month was 1475, exactly the same as a year ago. However, more people were in work than in October when it was 1515.
