Tragedy crash driver named

A WOMAN who died in a road crash near Newton Stewart has been named.

The accident occurred around 11.25 am on Monday when a blue-coloured Mazda car left the road and collided with a tree on the A714 road north of Penninghame, resulting in the death of the female driver.

Police have now confirmed that the driver was 73-year-old Annette Glover from Grentrool Village, Newton Stewart.

Investigations into the cause of the accident are continuing.

Sergeant Wayne Carnochan said: “We want to hear from anyone who may have witnessed this crash or who was on the A714 road north of Newton Stewart on Monday morning.
