Snow brings roads chaos

SNOWFALL has caused chaos across the region.

The A75 closed between Gretna and Annan due to a crash and emergency services spent hours dealing with a spate of incidents.

A yellow warning for snow was issued by the Met Office and in some parts of the region as much as an inch fell in just 20 minutes.

The M74 between Beattock and Johnstonebridge was restricted due to snow and multiple crashes.

Collisions were also reported on the A709 at Torthorwald, the A710 at Whinneyhill, the A76 at Closeburn and the A713 near Carsphairn.

Police have warned people to travel only if necessary.
