JACK Back is thrilled to be this year’s Lockerbie Gala and ROM Cornet

The 22-year-old farm worker from Waterbeck was announced as Cornet earlier this week.

And despite a lack of riding experience, the former Lockerbie Academy pupil is excited to get back in the saddle and do Lockerbie proud.

He said: “I’ve never really had much to do with the galas before and no one in my family has, but I’m looking forward to meeting new people and representing the town.”

Following last week’s weather whiteout the gala vote was cancelled due to safety and poor turn out concerns, so the Cornet’s Lass and Gala Queen hopefuls will now face the public vote tomorrow at Lockerbie Town Hall.

Kristin Taylor, Krystal Anderson and Tammy McGuiness are all hoping to clinch the vote tomorrow.

Meanwhile, best friends Ruad- han Farish and Robyn Cloy will go head-to-head to win the Queen’s crown.

The vote takes place tomorrow night from 6 pm to 8 pm downstairs at the town hall.
