Clifford Jones Timber has teamed up with farmers’ co-operative Fane Valley to sell their extra durable Platinum posts in 30 outlets across Northern Ireland. The posts have a 15-year guarantee and are made at the firm’s sites in Gretna and Ruthin.
The timber firm’s sales manager Josh Sambrook-Jones, the fourth generation of the family firm founded in 1948, revealed the deal has resulted in a major investment at the firm, saying: “We partnered with chemical giants Lonza to develop the Platinum range of posts which can last up to 35 years. We have worked with our partners in the chemical and engineering industries to achieve that and made a major investment of half a million pounds in new production lines and machinery.”
His father, and the company chairman, Richard Jones, pictured above right, added: “The development to the production lines at Ruthin and at Gretna add up to half a million pounds which is a major investment guaranteeing jobs and responding to our customers who ask for more durable fence posts.”
Welcoming the partnership, Thomas Barnett, of Fane Valley Stores, said: “We like to establish long-term partnerships in our business and Clifford Jones Timber are a long-established family company with a reputation for quality and innovation.”
Clifford Jones Timber employs over 70 staff and manufactures over four million fence posts a year, including two million of the Platinum range which are preserved with the Tanalith chemical.
