What was believed to be the first tall sailing ship in a century returned to the once busy port where it will undergo restoration.
The ‘La Malouine,’ which also has a back-up engine, was acquired from France by retired Dumfries businessman and sailing enthusiast Roy Kerr.
The last leg of the journey, taking advantage of the 10-feet clearance on the lower Nith created by the tide, was from the Port of Workington.
Mr Kerr will be joined by fellow volunteers from the Port of Dumfries Development Group in giving the 30-metre sailing training boat a refit.
He was delighted by the size of the crowd which lined vantage points along the River Nith at high tide to watch the spectacle.
