Men's club hit in tool raids

LOCKERBIE Mens Shed members have been left gutted following a £300 tool theft from their base.

Last week dozens of work vans were targeted in a region wide tool raid, which saw thefts reported in Lockerbie, Waterbeck, Annan, Ecclefechan and Dumfries.

The likes of LIP Construction had five vans in their fleet, left parked up around the region, looted.

But the looters didn’t just target work vans and, this week police are appealing for help after a community group were also made the victims of theft.

Officers in Lockerbie are carrying out enquiries, including door to door enquiries, into the break-in to the Mens Shed in Kirk Lane in the town.

The break-in happened sometime between Wednesday May 23 and the following day.

A De Walt tool box containing a number of tools and power tools was stolen in the raid.

Constable Julie Rankin at Lockerbie said: “We would like to hear from anyone who may have been in the area of the Mens Shed on Wednesday or Thursday to get in touch if they saw or heard anything suspicious. Callers can call us on the 101 number at Lockerbie, and should quote the reference number PDG 0111530518.”
