The theft happened at two locations overnight last Thursday to Friday, April 30/May 1.

A JCB excavactor parked at a complex at Clatteringshaws, off the A712, was broken into and an inboard computer and drive sprockets (gears) were taken.
Police are investigating and say the theft would have taken some time to commit and would have required the use of tools.
In the second incident, again over the same evening, an inboard computer was stolen from a JCB which was parked near to Murray’s Monument off the A712 road in Galloway.
Officers again say those responsible would have been at the machine for some time to commit this crime. Also stolen was a hub cover and two final drive shafts. The cost of replacing this equipment is estimated at around £3000.
Police are keen to trace the occupant of a dirty silver coloured, long wheel base Mitsubishi Shogun 4 x 4 which was seen driving slowly near to Murray’s Monument on the evening of Thursday April 30. The driver was wearing an orange coloured fluorescent jacket.
Anyone with information is urged to come forward.
