The Fechan Flyers were joined by two ‘guest Flyers’ as well as members of Dumfries CC and the Syracuse cycling team for Ride to the Sun – where they had to complete their challenge before sunrise.
The group, and 1500 fellow riders, left Carlisle on Saturday evening to begin the 100 mile cycle.
One of those involved said: “It was an impressive sight as we moved together as a group all the way up to Moffat for the first part before daylight left.
“A mass gathering at Moffat, a club buffet on top of the Beeftub, riding in the dark, a rave at Crook Inn, the cold descent into Edinburgh and dodging the drunken nightclubbers through Penicuik and Edinburgh were all highlights during the run and new experiences to the group.
“Everyone coped extremely well and all helped each other to complete the route to the end at Crammond Shore, where tea and bacon butties were sold.
“Riders were then able to catch the rising sun on the shore.”
Thanks are given to Annan Tesco and G&G Cycles Dumfries for donations of food and gels, to Newstart Recycle for bringing the bikes home, Annan Community Transport for bringing the riders home.
So far over £1700 has been raised and will be split between the two local charities in memory of Alan Lamont and Brian Wellburn.
