TO say that Eileen Adamson is busy is an understatement. The mum-of-three from Dumfries combines family life with a career as a PE teacher, doing the bookkeeping for the family building business and is also a part-time financial coach.
And her personal finance blog has now been shortlisted for a national award. Eileen, 47, is a finalist in the UK Money Bloggers Awards and will attend an awards ceremony in London in November to find out if she’s won. She describes it as a ‘remarkable achievement’ and said: “When I look at the quality of the other blogs, I can’t actually believe that I have been shortlisted. I’m shocked and delighted that people think my blog even deserved to be nominated.”
Her financial career started in 2014 when she realised there was a huge need to help people to manage their money more effectively. So, she trained as a coach and initially offered one-to-one sessions, but soon began to realise that she could have more impact by working online. She then developed her own online coaching courses with the aim of helping UK based women to improve their relationship with money, through investigating their money mindset, and attitude towards money.
As part of the move online, Eileen realised that to reach a bigger audience, she was going to have to start blogging. She said: “Initially, I was very nervous about putting my thoughts out there, but I now really enjoy blogging. I especially love the positive feedback that I get from my readers, and the relationship I have built up with my fellow money bloggers.”
In addition to the blog, she’s also now using social media and runs a group to help women make changes in their lives to become happier, healthier and wealthier with their money.
