Ally Sloan and Shannon Grieve both attend Dundee University and will take part in the Sleep in the Park there on December 8.
Explaining their motivation, Ally said: “The winter months are now here, it’s freezing and we’ve noticed the increasing numbers of homeless people sleeping on the streets.
“We wanted to do something to help raise awareness for this, so myself, Shannon Grieve and another two girls from university are all taking part in Sleep in The Park to raise money for homelessness.
“The more money we raise, the more people we can help so please, even if you could spare a couple of pounds towards this cause it would be greatly appreciated.”
Shannon added: “We all take for granted having a warm bed to sleep in at night, so we have decided to raise awareness for homelessness by giving this up for a night and taking part in Sleep in the Park where we will stay in sleeping bags overnight in Slessor Gardens, Dundee.”
The friends have raised nearly £300 for the charity so far, and only need £100 more to reach their target.
The sleepout events are happening right across Scotland with Edinburgh, Glasgow, Dundee and Aberdeen all taking part.
Last year 8000 people joined the world’s largest sleep out in Edinburgh’s Princes St Gardens to raise £4m and call for an end to homelessness in Scotland.
