SPECIAL VISITOR . . . a keen bird watcher from Annan was delighted to see a rare bird stop off in her garden at the weekend. Caroline Legg of Ednam Street spotted a juvenile rosy starling and said: "They are quite scarce in the UK and especially so for Dumfries and Galloway. They are a member of the starling family and are from Eastern Europe. They migrate in the winter but usually to Asia. It has been reported to the rare bird association and I did notice a few people in the street yesterday with binoculars and scopes. I am a keen bird watcher and was delighted to see such a bird in my garden." The rare birds have created a flurry of activity when they have been spotted elsewhere in the country, attracting scores of ornithologists from miles around
