Emergency services were called to the scene after the discovery of the body in the burn near the town’s bowling club, only a few hundred yards from the town centre.
Police, fire and rescue and ambulance personnel were called to the scene along with members of the Scottish Fire and Rescue water rescue unit.
The area has been cordoned off and Police Scotland CID officers are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.
