Running for the hills

RUNNERS of all ages took to the roads and hills around Moffat on Tuesday night for the 34th annual Moffat Festival of Running.

A fine evening with a little refreshing rain made for perfect conditions for entrants tackling the nine mile route, as well as for the children doing the shorter races. First home was Paul Graves from DH Runners, Carlisle, in a time of 52.5 minutes. The first local male to cross the finish line was Kevin Plummer of Hartfell Hill Running Club in a time of 63.53. The first female to complete the race was Gillian Carr in a time of 65.49 and the first local female title was won by Lucie Dutton of Beattock. Finlay Walton and Kate Thomson were the overall boys and girls winners in the 5-11 category and Dylan Walton and Skye Rae were the overall boys and girls winners in the 12-16 category.
