ONE OF the world’s top darts players will take on some of the best local darts talent at a match in Annan this weekend.

Northern Irish darts sensation Daryl Gurney, currently ranked fourth in the world, will meet fans and play a special exhibition match at the Corner House Hotel on Saturday.

Daryl, known by the nickname Superchin, joined the Professional Darts Corpotation (PDC) in 2013 and claimed his maiden TV title at the World Grand Prix 2017. He followed this up with a win at the Players Championship Finals 2018, and continued his run of success by picking up his first European Tour title at the German Darts Championships in March this year. Away from competitions, Daryl travels to exhibition matches across Europe and says he loves having the chance to meet his fans. He said: “This will be my first visit to Dumfries and Galloway and I can’t wait.”

Saturday’s event has been organised by local darts enthusiast Mikey Green, who ran a similar event last year with South African darts player Devon Petersen. Mikey said: “I’m delighted Daryl is coming here, he’s one of the world’s top players so to have him here is brilliant for the local area.”
