Work van tool thefts

OFFICERS in Castle Douglas are investigating thefts from two vans in the town on Wednesday.

A white Fiat Doblo van, which was parked in Anderson Drive, was broken into and a garden strimmer stolen.

In another theft, a white Vauxhall Combo van, which was parked in Alvingham Avenue, was also broken into and Makita power tools with a value of over £400 stolen.

Constable Nathan Moore at Castle Douglas said: “It does seem that these vans were targeted for this type of crime because they are work vans.

“We are carrying our door-to-door enquiries at this time and are appealing to anyone who may have been in either Anderson Drive or Alvingham Avenue either late on Tuesday night or early on Wednesday morning to get in touch through the 101 number, quoting the reference number 0603 21/8.”
