Vet plan for empty shop

A SUPER vet centre is set to open in Lockerbie next summer, transforming The Original Factory Shop (TOFS).

Dryfe Vets owner Andy Veitch has purchased the Main Street premises and plans to move his Townhead based business to the larger site, which also boasts a car park.

He said: “We have already increased vet numbers and will look to increase nursing and reception staff once we move and get busier.

“The car park was a big selling point. Townhead Street is getting worse because of rail traffc and we need more room as we are outgrowing this place.”

TOFS closed last summer and was put up for auction. It was on the market with a guide price of around £270,000.

It was then bought by Sava Estates, who applied for planning permission to subdivide the property into a number of separate units and mooted the idea of it being used by shop, restaurant, bar, takeaway, gym and dental businesses.
