She sadly passed away in 2017 after a battle with lymphoma, aged just 27. Her premature death devastated her family and also her friends Emma Bell, Lauren Frainey, Elgiva Smith, Lucy Williamson, Bethaney Warwick, Tiree Holmes and Sarah Armstrong, pictured below.
But the pals are trying to turn their sadness into something positive and are holding a fundraiser this weekend in memory of their beloved Kirsty, who was a radiographer at Dumfries Royal Infirmary.
Speaking on behalf of the group, Emma said: “She would have been 30 this September so as her friends we didn’t want to let this milestone pass without doing something special and celebrating in style.
“Kirsty touched so many lives and was a friend to many. She had a passion for life and her contagious laugh was recognised wherever she went. She loved her job, she loved music, playing the guitar and was part of a choir.
“She is such a huge loss to all of us but she is our biggest inspiration and hero. Kirsty was the kindest most beautiful girl and we are blessed to have had her in our lives.”
The event at Gretna Social Club on Saturday will feature music from The Green and a star raffle. All proceeds will go towards three charities which were close to Kirsty’s heart: the Freeman Heart & Lung Transplant Association, Bright Red Cancer Charity and Complimentary Therapy at Freeman Hospital. Emma added: “We are looking forward to an amazing night in memory of our angel. We are so grateful for all the the amazing donations of raffle prizes and money.”
