From yesterday until Friday October 25, school aged pupils can visit locations such as R Little Bakers in Moffat, Marchbanks in Lockerbie and The Green Cafe in Eastriggs at allocated times to pick up free food.
Meal options typically include a sandwich and soup option and pupils or parents will not be asked to provide any form of ID.
Councillor Andy Ferguson, chair of the communities committee, said: “Our Holiday Food Programme for the October holidays this year covers all of our region and has been specially designed to offer as much enjoyment to the children and young people taking part as possible.
“We are especially happy to work in partnership with all of our third sector partners this year who will be delivering their projects from the heart of their communities.”
Councillor John Martin, the committee’s vice chair, added: “Our council is incredibly committed to supporting all of our children and young people and the continuation of our Holiday Food Programme delivers our pledge to support our families not just during the 38 weeks of term time but also during the 14 weeks of holidays which happen throughout the year.”
