A SHORT moving service has taken place at Staple Gordon cemetery near Langholm, which was organised by members of the Langholm Royal British Legion.

Private James Jardine of the 15th KOSB had been wounded and brought home and died on May 8, 1915.

Last Friday, exactly 100 years later on the same date, the Rev Scott McCarthy conducted a short service at his grave and a wreath was laid by Irving Stuart.

Also in attendance was Donald Waldie carrying the Queens Colours and Eddie Fisher with the Legion Branch Colours. Bandsman Kenneth Hill played the Last Post and Piper Gilbert Gillanders the Lament.
