Amanda takes on shoeboxes

A NEW face is taking over the Shoebox Appeal co-ordinating role in the region.

A total of 996 boxes crammed with goodies and essentials for underprivileged children in Liberia were sent off this year, donated by churches, schools and individuals.

But next year new co-ordinator Amanda Trotter from Dumfries hopes to make the collection bigger than ever before – appealing to people from Stranraer to Gretna to get involved and help spread Christmas cheer around the world.

For more than 20 years volunteers from Annan Old Parish Church co-ordinated local efforts but this year was their final year.
