Regional Clubs await update

ANNAN Athletic and Queen of the South are to hear from the Scottish Professional Football League (SPFL) regarding the coronavirus pandemic.

All 42 Scottish league clubs will receive a conference call this Friday from the SPFL to discuss what the future may look like for every club from the Scottish Premiership to Scottish League Two.

Making a decision to null and avoid all four divisions is not likely to be discussed until more clarity has been given from both the British Government and UEFA.

A desire to finish all domestic leagues across Europe by June 30, seems to becoming more unlikely by the day with suggestions that no football will be be restarted by then.

Last week it was decided that the fifth tier of Scottish football, to give Brora Rangers the Champship with being top of the league before all football was suspended.

As the football season stands, Annan Athletic are seventh in League Two and are ten points adrift of the play-offs, while Queen of the South are ninth in the Championship and sit in the relegation play-off places.

One of the key issues to be discussed is players contracts and the advancement of funding clubs, which will be crucial to make sure none of them go out of business during these unprecedented times.
