This historic decision was announced on Monday evening in what was the best option available as the pandemic continues to affect the UK on a major scale.
The Black and Whites were sitting in thirteenth place in the division from 24 games played and only one point above the relegation zone and now secure after relegation was scrapped for this year.
An eighth campaign is now guaranteed for Gretna FC 2008 after entering the league when it was first formed in the 2013/2014 season.
Manager Rowan Alexander and his players had failed to register a league win since beating Cumbernauld Colts 1-0 in December and were six games without in a win in all competitions before football across the UK was halted in March.
A Scottish Lowland Football League spokesperson said: “The board of the SLFL have today decided to end the league competition with immediate effect.
“Furthermore, the board would like to make it clear that it feels that no member club should be disadvantaged by the current health crisis we face, and as such there will be no relegation from the SLFL in season 2019/2020.”
