Lorry drivers thank caring Lesley

A LOCKERBIE woman is on the hunt for more donations to help create care packages for lorry drivers.

Lesley Bell – who works at Lockerbie Lorry Park – has been going up to the park twice a week and giving out products, including baby wipes, kitchen rolls, toilet rolls and chocolate, to HGV drivers, who struggle to get hold of items due to the coronavirus outbreak.
But with current limits on the amount of products you can buy in supermarkets, Lesley has found it hard to get her hands on more goods.
She has now pleaded with the Lockerbie community to help her.
Lesley said: “Now the only problem I have is they will only let me buy one packet of kitchen roll, even after explaining what it’s for. It’s something that the drivers use every day and we need to look after them.”
Lesley’s kindness has not gone unnoticed. Lorry driver Tam Cargill posted on his Facebook: “This is Lesley, she works in the shop at Lockerbie Truck Stop. She’s been out each night in the lorry park giving out goodies to us truckers. She used her holiday money to buy the stuff. What a star, a big thanks from all us truckers.”
To donate, send a Facebook message to Lesley Bell.
