Call for corona memories

A PROJECT has been launched in Moffat to document the coronavirus period.

“Keeping your Distance – A Community Coming Together” will record what happened locally during the Covid-19 lockdown of 2020. It is being organised by Moffat Museum and secretary Janet Tildesley said: “We always see history as something that happened a long time ago but our community is living through momentous times and future generations will want to know what it was like in Moffat during this lockdown.

“Moffat Museum is developing a community archive in which we want to pull together photographs, images, stories and personal recollections from Moffat residents. We will make this available to the community via the museum website and, in the future, curate the information into an exhibition.”

They are appealing for photos and digital images of what the town is like just now, as well as what townsfolk are doing with their time, who is delivering essential supplies, who the key workers are and experiences of home schooling.

Janet added: “Send us your thoughts and stories of what this time means for you – good and bad! “We look forward to hearing from you.”
