Be Kind message

A SERIES of 12 weekly videos showcasing the Moffat community and the recovery from Covid-19 are to be made.

‘Be considerate, be kind and be safe’ is the town’s theme, which is part of the Love Local campaign, funded in partnership by Scotland’s Towns Partnerships, The Scottish Government and Scotland’s Improvement Districts.

It will be delivered by Moffat and District Community Council (MDCC), working with Visit Moffat and Dumfries and Galloway Council.

And community council chairman Dick Monaghan explained the purpose of the funding is to help communities out of the effects caused by the pandemic, by letting people know what precautions are being taken.

He said: “Every one of us has been and is still being affected by the virus in some way.

“Our tourism industry has been devastated, our local businesses have suffered greatly, and members of our community have lost employment and are struggling to recover.”

The videos will be produced by a project officer, who has been commissioned by MDCC, and will feature what residents and businesses are doing.

Dick added: “It will deal with many of the concerns and advise of up-to date-changes in restrictions.

“These will be published on social media via MDCC’s and Visit Moffat’s Facebook pages.

“Please be considerate, be kind, and be safe – not only to each other but to all who visit Moffat and the surrounding area.

“So far, our community has been magnificent in its response to the Covid-19 crisis.

“Let’s all continue to contribute to this marvellous effort.”
