Windfarm's £27k support

COMMUNITIES in Upper Nithsdale have received a share of £27,000 to help fund educational technology for children in the area.

Italian-based renewable energy company ERG, who operate the turbines at the local Sandy Knowe Wind Farm site, have a long-standing relationship with local communities in the area. Following a challenging and uncertain year for pupils, the company were keen to give back.

Marco Tiberi, project manager for ERG, said: “This project has a long history with the local communities and from the start has been strongly supported by residents in the area.

“This kind of economic boost is a real benefit to the local community and an excellent example of what community benefit funding can do to help rural communities in times of crisis.”
