Data from Public Health Scotland showed that weekly admissions to hospitals in Dumfries and Galloway from the start of the year to the end of September were down on last year during the same period.
Attendances at the emergency department were also down, as was the use of the Out of Hours service.
There were fewer cardiovascular patients seen, with a noticeable drop at the end of March when 169 were seen, compared to 417.
In contrast, there was a spike in mental health cases reporting to A&E at the end of June, with 31 patients in a week compared to the historic average of 17. Another peak occurred in August but numbers fell again in September.
