Eyebrows were raised earlier this year after plans were initially announced to uproot the Post Office from its High Street home were announced.
Early on during the Post Office re-homing process, the garage, on Station Road, seemed the most likely to take on the role.
However at a community meeting in February many residents expressed their disappointment at the less central location.
Despite location fears, it was announced earlier this week that Benmar Garage had won the bid to re-home the Post Office, which will now offer increased opening hours.
Speaking at Tuesday night’s meeting of Moffat Community Council, owner Jamie Wood said: “The decision has been made to move the Post Office to my premises.”
The Post Office is expected to be up and running by August 14 and Mr Wood intends to take on extra staff to help run his flourishing business.
He said: “Current Post Office workers are not obliged to come and work with us and likewise we are not obliged to offer them jobs. “But obviously we would look very favourably upon them with their years of knowledge.”
