Restrictions unchanged

DUMFRIES and Galloway is to remain under level two covid restrictions for another week.

In Parliament this afternoon, the First Minister announced no change in the status for the region.

The situation will be reviewed again next Tuesday.

But there’s hope on the horizon as Nicola Sturgeon said she hopes that many of the current level two area will be able to move to level one ‘soon’.

And she also pleaded to people living here not to be complacent, saying: “Please do not assume that being in lower levels means you can ease up. On the contrary, it’s more vital to abide by all the rules and precautions.”

Meanwhile, figures published by the Scottish Government today showed that the number of cases locally is starting to slow.

There has now been 1074 positive tests overall – up 71 from last Tuesday.
