A76 tragedy victim named

A DRIVER who died as a result of a two-car accident on the A76 trunk road earlier this month was named by police today.

Jean Galligan, 82, was travelling in a car which caught fire after a collision with another vehicle at Holywood, north of Dumfries, on Thursday May 14.

Mrs Galligan, a widow from Dumfries, died at the scene of the tragedy which happened around 6 pm.

The driver and front seat passenger in the other car were uninjured.
