SOPHIE Forster and Toni Bolton of the Old Toll Bar cafe lounge in Gretna are looking forward to celebrating its first birthday this week.

The First House in Scotland, as it is also known, is proving to be a popular haunt for locals to enjoy a coffee and a catch-up, as well as the town’s numerous visitors and cyclists on the LEJOG route.

Toni has been managing the cafe since August and has, with Sophie’s assistance, developed a reputation for their mouth-watering home-baking and delicious Sunday lunches.

She said: “It is all about the personal touch and, living locally, we both really enjoy getting to know our regular customers and being part of the community.”

The girls have made a special celebration cake to mark the cafe’s first birthday and are wishing to share it with anyone popping in for a cuppa.

All you have to do is wish them a ‘Happy Birthday’ and they will add a slice of cake, on the side, to your order while stocks last.
