Moffat Community Council kickstart election

MOFFAT and District Community Council has given notice of its upcoming casual vacancy election.

The process was triggered after chairman Dick Mongahan and Lynn Anderson, the group’s secretary stepped down from their roles.

Eight withstanding community councillors are due to return, however the group is looking to increase its number of representatives, and is urging members of the community to step forward.
Nomination papers can be acquired from the returning officer, Steven Wylie, at the Municipal Chambers on Buccleuch Street, Dumfries. These should be returned by Friday, February 5 at 5 pm.

If upwards of eight people are validly nominated, a ballot box will be held on Thursday, February 18.

If eight or less individuals are validly nominated, they will be declared elected unopposed on Friday, February 19 ahead of the community council’s EGM on Tuesday, March 19.
