Burns statue vandalised

TWO people were arrested in Dumfries last week for defacing the Robert Burns statue and the surrounding area of the town centre.

A man, 21, and woman, 26, were charged with vandalising the monument and nearby Friars Vennel, and spray-painting public bins, seating, bus stops and walls in the early hours of last Friday, January 22.

Officers from Dumfries are appealing to members of the public who live or work within the area to check their properties and phone Police Scotland on 101 quoting incident number 0209 of 22nd January, should they find their property has been vandalised.
