More children get set for back to school

OLDER primary school pupils are getting ready to return to the classroom full time tomorrow.

They will join nursery and P1-3s who have been back for three weeks.

Meanwhile, secondary pupils have been given more information from Dumfries and Galloway Council about what contact they can expect over the new few weeks.

From March 15, secondary schools will return on a part-time basis.

This means that S1 to S3 pupils will attend one-day in-school learning per week; S4 to S6 pupils will attend at least one-day in-school learning per week; and S4 to S6 pupils, who require to do so, will still be able to complete practical work throughout the week, in the day(s) that they are currently attending school.

The days that pupils are not attending school will continue to be supported by remote learning and the council said that will continue to be the main focus for learning and teaching.

Details of which days pupils will attend will be sent out by individual schools. The new arrangements will be in place until the end of term on March 26.

And from April 12, after the Easter holidays, the local authority say it’s expected that all pupils will return to school as normal.
