Rural roadside attack
ROADSIDE BREAK-IN . . . the incident occurred on this quiet road by Loch Patrick near Kirkpatrick Durham

ENQUIRIES are ongoing after a car’s windows were smashed near Kirkpatrick Durham last weekend.

The owner of the white Vauxhall Corsa vehicle left it parked in a layby by Loch Patrick at around 7.15 pm last Friday.

And while fishing on the water, a black Volkswagen Golf approached the vehicle from the direction of Kirkpatrick Durham about ten minutes later and parked-up behind.

The driver of the Volkswagen, described as possibly male and dressed in dark clothing, was observed approaching the unattended Vauxhall. Two sudden bangs were heard and thereafter the black Volkswagen Golf was seen driving off towards the direction of A75.

Upon returning to the car, the angler discovered that its front and nearside rear windows had been smashed, the glove compartment opened and items within the vehicle “disturbed”, however it is reported that nothing of note was stolen.

Police Scotland are appealing for witnesses and information that could assist their investigation.

Officers said in a statement: “Were you in the area at the time? Do you live in the vicinity or do you have any CCTV or dash camera footage which may have captured the black VW Golf?

“If you have any information that may assist us with this enquiry please contact 101 quoting PDG0064190421.”
