Centre Stage Theatre Company, based in Langholm, will be performing ‘Timbertown Girls’ to packed audiences in Gretna, Eastriggs and Langholm this week and next.
Named in recognition of the timber hostels that many of the girls lived in at the factory, the new drama has been written by Chris Jones, whose grandmother started work at HM Factory Gretna in 1917.
The production draws on images from the period in a combination of filmed pieces and live drama and features a cast of 26, aged from 14 to 60.
Tickets for the two-hour show are free, but registration is required at www.timbertowngirls.org.uk
And there is still some availability for the performances at Greyfriars Church in Dumfries next Saturday and The Undercroft at Carlisle Railway Station on June 18 and 19.
