PLANS for a new windfarm near Moffat have been put to the public.
German developers RWE are proposing siting up to 17 turbines at Daer Reservoir in the Lowther Hills, 12 kilometres west of the town.
And they have created an online exhibition detailing the different aspects of the development, from how the site would look to how the turbines would be transported and how long it would take to complete.
The area was chosen because of its “excellent wind resources and connections to the national electricity network”, according to RWE.
Moffat and District Community Council (MDCC) said in a statement that the project will have “no direct impact on our town”, but urged people to “research and make up your own mind”, highlighting that any feedback on Daer Windfarm should be submitted to the Scottish Government’s Energy Consents Unit by no later than Friday June 25.
Furthermore, the group will launch its community consultation process on the significantly bigger Scoop Hill development next month.
MDCC said: “We’ve agreed to seek residents’ views specifically on Scoop Hill given its size, as well as its proximity to Moffat and visibility from the town. Our community consultation plans are well developed and on target to be launched next month.
“We do not propose to run a parallel or hybrid consultation to include Daer given that the two proposals are very different and with different considerations.”
