Chris Jowsey from Balmaclellan was nominated for the BT award after he helped keep up his community’s spirits during covid.
The awards honours individuals who used the power of the internet to make a difference during a unique and challenging year.
Chris hosted a weekly online pub quiz, every week since lockdown began, which quickly became a highlight for family and friends from all over the country.
Delighted to be a winner, he said: “It’s brilliant to be named as an Unbreakable by BT, but even better to recognised for serving the community during these testing times by keeping everyone connected. The Lockdown Quiz has been a fantastic way to bring family and friends together during lockdown.
“Loneliness and isolation have a devastating impact on your mental health and wellbeing, so it’s been a pleasure to help out, not just my own family, but for friend’s families, families of friends, and the wider community too.”
BT spokeswoman Sharon Meadows congratulated him and the two other winners and said: “We set out on our search to find the nation’s Unbreakables, to celebrate the everyday heroes across communities who used the power of the internet to help others during this difficult time. The inspirational stories of Kerry, Laura and Chris are three great examples of this, their own unique efforts kept thousands of people entertained, connected and upbeat during lockdown.”
