Gallery in artist shout out

ASPIRING artists from the region are being offered the chance to show their work in an open exhibition.

Every summer, the historic Harbour Cottage Gallery in Kirkcudbright holds an open exhibition and plans are rolling out for this year.

Organiser Alistair Hamilton said: “The Open really is open in that work is not selected, so applying to enter comes without fear of rejection. Provided you meet some basic requirements, your work will be accepted into the exhibition.

“Being in the Open can bring new opportunities. Each year, the gallery will invite some artists taking part in the Open each year to become gallery artists, who will then be invited to take part in prestigious summer and autumn exhibitions in the gallery alongside established artists.”

They are especially keen to encourage artists who are new to exhibiting to take part.

It will run from July 5-17 and participants should be available to drop off their work on 4 July and pick it up on July 17.

Anyone interested should email Alistair at [email protected].
