They covered a stretch of the cycle path from the Nunholm road end to the Hardthorn Road end.
It was part of the club’s current initiative to put the environment at the heart of their community service activities.
Several green bags of rubbish were collected but members were encouraged that in contrast to previous litter pick days, there was comparatively little litter collected for disposal.
Among the rubbish they did pick were discarded cigarette packets, drinks bottles, broken glass and food cartons along with sundry items of discarded clothing and bits of metal.
And they highlighted a ‘worrying trend’ for dog walkers to leave their full doggy-poo bags either in the grass or ‘hanging’ from tree branches.
Litter picking is just one of the community service activities that Rotary volunteers and their friends and families have engaged in over the decades of Dumfries Rotary’s existence.
Club community and environment officer John Colbeck said: “As with many of our regular activities, we are committed to this cycle path litter pick at least twice a year and we will continue to develop our programme of activities to help in whatever ways we can to improve our local environment.”
This will be one of the key themes Dumfries Rotary is taking forward in its centenary year 2021-2022.
