On Wednesday last week, between 20 and 25 bottles of alcohol were stolen from Annan Tesco at 2.20 pm.
And shortly after, clothing was stolen from Hugo Boss and Ralph Lauren, both at Gretna Gateway.
The value of the theft from Tesco is still be calculated, but the items removed from Ralph Lauren were worth £110 and those from Hugo Boss were £375.
CCTV captured a man and a woman at both of the Gretna premises, and the man at Tesco.
Appealing for any witnesses to come forward, Sergeant Scott McDowall at Annan this week said: “A male and a female worked in tandem to remove tags from clothing and walked from the store without paying or attempting to pay.”
From Ralph Lauren, at 2.47 pm, they took a floral t-shirt and grey joggers.
The male is described in his late 30s, wearing a black cap, black body warmer, black jeans and black trainers, while the female was also in her 30s and wearing a black patterned skirt, a long black cardigan, white t-shirt and pump style shoes with flowers on.
Sgt McDowall added: “She was carrying a carrier bag and holdall which appeared, on CCTV, full on leaving the shop while it appeared empty on entering.”
An hour later, at 3.42 pm, they hit Hugo Boss. Sgt McDowall said: “Several items of clothing were removed from the store with distraction tactics again being used by the perpetrators.
“CCTV enquiries have revealed that it was the same couple as in Ralph Lauren that were responsible.
“On this occasion the pair were at the checkout briefly, nothing was bought, however they spoke with each other in what was described as a foreign language, albeit the reporter was unclear which language it was.”
Meanwhile, footage from Tesco cameras showed the male fitting the description, but there were slight discrepancies which Police Scotland officers put down to the cameras.
