Sorting office rumour quashed
Langholm High Street

REPORTS that Langholm’s sorting office could be moved to Lockerbie have been denied by Royal Mail.

Dumfriesshire MSP and MP Oliver and David Mundell said they were contacted by several local residents regarding a supposed plan to relocate the office from the existing High Street building, which is said to have been deemed not fit for purpose.

However, this week Royal Mail played down reports of the move.

In a statement, a spokesperson for the company said: “We regularly review our operations to accommodate the modern postbag with more parcels and fewer letters. At the current time we have no plans to relocate this delivery office.”
