And he proved that this week with a charity climb up Ben Nevis to raise money for a cause close to their hearts.
Dave, who lives in Lockerbie, decided to tackle the UK’s highest mountain in aid of the Brittle Bone Society as both his wife Ashley and baby son Odin suffer from the condition.
And his efforts are set to raise £1170.
Explaining his reasons, Dave said: “My wife, Ashley, was born with Osteogenesis Imperfecta, type 1 (OI). We have been together for over ten years and I have never seen the extent of the worst of OI. She is in pain daily but still smiles through it.
“We have a son together, Odin, he is a happy, contented little man. At the birth of Odin, the midwives took blood from his umbilical cord to send up to genetics. Five weeks later we were told like his mum, Odin had OI Type 1 as well as Osteochondritis Dessicans.”
Describing the pair as his ‘absolute universe’, Dave said: “I would swim the deepest oceans, or climb the tallest mountains for them. This climb is exactly what I’m going to do. I have been really pushing to better myself this year, and this will be something off my bucket list to a better me.
“I am pushing myself to the limits for the most important people in my life and will always strive to do so. Please give as little as you like. There is no pressure here. Just know that my family and I will be forever grateful.”
