Polly is on top of the world

A YOUNG rider from a cycling club in Castle Douglas is celebrating after winning the Mini Downhill event in the UCI Mountain Bike World Cup at Fort William.

Polly Henderson from Stewartry Wheelers was winner of the Under 14 female race — defeating hot prospect Tea Jensen in the final.
Reacting to her victory, Polly said: “I’m delighted to win this year’s ScottishPower Mini Downhill Series.
“It’s the fourth time I have won at Fort William. I wasn’t able to compete in last year’s events so it was great to come back and show I was able to win again.”
She added: “All of the rounds of the series, especially Fort William, are great fun and the girls I race against are amazing competition however they haven’t been able to catch me yet.
“Next year I will be racing in the Under 16 category so the competition will be tough but I hope to be back to claim another title.”
