A WEBSITE dedicated to the victims of the Lockerbie Disaster has been launched.
The Pan Am 103 Lockerbie Legacy Foundation aims to give a voice to all affected by the 1988 tragedy and provides a dynamic site with multimedia digital platforms for all to tell their stories, in their own words and to perpetually honour each of the 270 victims.
Founder Victoria Cummock – who is the widow of passenger John B. Cummock – said: “Our website is dedicated to the victims murdered in the December 21 1988, terrorist attack against America and to their loved ones, who are scattered across 21 countries and who were left to pick up the pieces of their lives and carry on.
“For more than 30 years we have observed the individual trauma caused by acts of terrorism and air disasters. Strangers from every walk of life were at once bonded with each other by tragedy and by their quest for truth, accountability, and healing.
“Amidst unspeakable personal loss and grief, I have had the privilege to participate in and witness with heartfelt admiration the courageous and selfless humanitarian efforts of hundreds of ordinary people.”
The foundation’s goals are simple yet bold: to codify history, honour, bear witness, connect, raise awareness and celebrate Lockerbie.
The website is also dedicated to the millions of airline passengers who fly annually on United States domestic and international flights — some 1.1 billion in 2019.
Their interactive web platform will roll out in three phases. The first is the Living Memorial and Story Project which will be uploaded in December. Currently, the foundation are gathering materials and photos.
