WORKS to repair and reopen a road near Waterbeck look likely to be pushed back to next year - bringing the length of the closure to almost three years.

The C61a road was placed under emergency closure in March 2019 due to structural issues from a power cable re-instatement.
Since that time, several tentative start dates for the work have been released but have fallen through each time.
This week, a spokeswoman for Scottish Power Energy Networks (SPEN) said: “We would like to apologise again to anyone affected by the continued delays to the work on the C61a.
“We are committed to delivering this project and having the road returned to a better condition than it was previously but we recognise the time this has taken has fallen well beyond the time we had hoped to achieve this in.
“We are continuing to work with the local council on these works and in advance of works commencing, we will be in touch with the local community and stakeholders to inform them of the start date and timeline.”
