The region’s premier Santa School is calling for anyone who thinks they have the correct jolly disposition to do the seasonal role to get in touch.
Founder Stuart Thompson MBE, of Gretna, is looking for a batch of new recruits to assist in grottos, at shopping centres, parades and processions and other festive fun in 2022 and beyond.
He has noticed a shortage of Santas in the last few years and is making it his mission to boost the workforce for years to come – and is particularly keen to hear from younger candidates.
Stuart said: “Santa Helpers will be given comprehensive training to meet the demands of the job, these are lots of stamina, being able to deal with the unexpected, being able to make children feel relaxed and build up a good rapport.
“It’s all about bringing happiness to them. It’s a great responsibility to provide an important, magical and memorable experience.”
Stuart has himself been a stand in Santa for several years and set up his Santa School in 2008.
Describing it as ‘the most enjoyable job ever’, he added: “Helpers must have a love for Christmas. They need to be sincere, punctual, honest and reliable, as well as outgoing and creative.
“And one of the biggest things is being able to think on your feet and deal with difficult questions from the children.”
Anyone who thinks they have what it takes to don the iconic red suit and become a Santa Helper should go to the school’s website at www.santaschool.co.uk.
