The RH Youth Organisation is preparing their outdoor and adventure groups for three different sessions running every second week.
And the trial period will run from January to April in the church hall, with activities for children aged from four to 13.
A mix of survival skills, such as fire lighting, building shelters, first aid, cooking etc; outdoor trips, social trips, teambuilding activities, games indoors and outdoors and fundraisers and community work all make up the RH Youth Organisation sessions, which are delivered by a local couple and their staff.
Co-founder and chief executive Robert Humes said: “We are very pleased that we have been approached by the community of Lochmaben to bring some activities for the young people.
“For the pilot programme to work we are desperately needing volunteers to come along and help out.
“With consultations and support from the community council, there is a need for our group to launch in the New Year.
“This is a very exciting time for the Lochmaben community, and with the help and support for the group we hope this can be successful.”
And he added: “For the Lochmaben branch to work, we will need dedicated adult volunteers to run the sessions.
“Throughout the weeks of running the sessions, adults will be trained as they go along.
“We are looking for at least six adult volunteers.
“If we do not receive help we will sadly have to close the branch.
“If we manage to recruit six volunteers to run the various sessions, we will be able to run sessions every week in Lochmaben rather than every two weeks.”
Young people and adult volunteers who are interested can sign up from today through the website and Facebook, by searching RH Youth Organisation online.
Adult volunteers can contact development officer Rowan Chisholm at [email protected] or via Facebook.
Each session will cost £1.50 to cover hall costs and the first night is free of charge as a taster session.
Scavengers will run from 4.30 pm to 5.45 pm for children aged 4-7, Pathfinders is from 6 pm to 7.30 pm for those aged 8 to 10-years-old and Troopers/Challengers will be from 7.30 pm to 9 pm for young people aged 11 to 13.
