But reassurances have been given that the projects were not discounted by the Scottish Government, despite not appearing in the Strategic Transport Projects Review 2 (STPR2).
Emma Harper MSP said: “While the document does not mention any particular rail routes, I will be feeding these into the call for feedback, and will be pressing the Scottish Government for particular action on Stranraer-Dumfries and Dumfries-Lockerbie lines, and the re-opening of Beattock Station.
“I welcome that the Cabinet Secretary made clear that just because a project isn’t mentioned in the document itself, it does not mean it won’t go ahead.”
Responding, a spokesman for Beattock Station Action Group said: “Our first response was disappointment, as Beattock, Thornhill and Eastriggs did not make it into the final draft of the STPR 2.
“However, we have spoken to Emma Harper MSP who informed us she had spoken to the Transport Minister and was informed that this doesn’t mean that reopening of Beattock and the other stations are not still under consideration.
“We are pursuing other avenues and we thank you for your continued support and the fight is not over.”
